Surrey Hills Equine offers highly specialised referral-level services of lameness investigation directly at our clients’ premises, involving no guess work, but instead following an evidence-based approach starting with a thorough clinical exam, involving an assessment in hand and on the lunge followed by flexion tests, diagnostic perineural anaesthesia (nerve blocking) and finally the use of the most advanced radiographic (X-ray) and ultrasonographic (ultrasound scan) diagnostic imaging digital technology directly at the yard.
Whenever possible, we also strongly encourage clients to present their horses for a ridden exam in addition to the conventional assessment in hand and on the lunge, as this can reveal problems that may be highlighted only under the saddle.
We believe that our clients deserve the best equine ambulatory care. Our vets have devoted their careers to advancing their equine veterinary skills and knowledge, and can offer the highest specialised post-graduate qualifications in advanced equine orthopaedic services, and more than 20 years of individual experience in investigating and treating equine lameness and poor performance at all levels, from racehorses, to show jumping, eventing and dressage, to polo and companion horses.
To complement this veterinary expertise, SHEQ has made a significant investment to provide our clients with the latest state-of-the-art technology in mobile diagnostic imaging, hence allowing our vets to obtain the highest details in radiographic and ultrasonographic imaging when working up a lameness case.
Treatments
We offer a wide array of treatments for orthopaedic conditions, from conventional medicine solutions involving the use of intra-articular corticosteroids, hyaluronate (HY-50®), polyacrylamide (Arthramid®), to autologous treatments such as stem cells therapy, platelet rich plasma gel (PrP), autologous conditioned serum (ACS – IRAP® II) and Bisphosphonates (Osphos® and Tildren®).
We also carry out ultrasound-guided injection of subchondral stifle cysts as well as cervical and thoracolumbar articular facets at the yard.
We complement our treatments with shockwave therapy (ECSWT) and acupuncture.
