The Experts

Corrado holds over 20 years of equine veterinary experience matured across Europe, USA and UK specialising in lameness, performance medicine, pre-purchase examination and all aspects of advanced ambulatory practice.

Hailing from Verona in Italy, Corrado rode professionally as international three-day event rider between 1996 and 1999 (Team Italy). Having competed for both the senior and young-rider Italian team in major eventing shows across Europe at 3* level, Corrado understands the subtleness that may lead to poor performance and the importance of a solid veterinary support to competition horses and their riders.

Following his degree in Veterinary Medicine, Corrado obtained a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice focused on Orthopaedics (CertAVP), a PhD in Critical Emergency Care and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He is an FEI permitted treating vet, RCVS riding establishment inspector and Official Controls (OCQ) vet.

Corrado worked in a private practice in Florida USA, where every year 10,000 horses would come from the northern states to spend the winter racing and competing in all disciplines. From there, in 2010 Corrado made landfall in Newmarket, home of horseracing, where he spent 3 years before moving to the Surrey Hills working for a local practice in 2012.

In 2019 Corrado joined the Equine team of Priory Veterinary Surgeons, a long established independent mixed practice founded in 1914, serving the Surrey Hills as well as West Sussex and South London. In 2023 Corrado acquired the Equine side of Priory Vets, preserving its legacy in the newly founded Surrey Hills Equine Veterinary Practice, continuing to serve all Priory’s equine clients, and bringing all equine ambulatory services to the Surrey Hills and nearby Counties.

Corrado believes in the value of providing a personal service and establishing a relationship with clients, valuing their trust as the highest reward. For this reason, Surrey Hills Equine remains a fiercely independent equine veterinary practice.

When time allows it, Corrado enjoys a trip to Wales, where he can go for a gallop out on Ogmore Beach with his wife Polly and their dog Bella.

Team Bryan

Bryan is a Specialist in Equine Surgery. Hailing from Cork, Ireland, he graduated from University College Dublin, and shortly after undertook a specialist surgical training between a private equine hospital and Glasgow University. Bryan worked in the UK and Ireland, and today, Bryan holds a diploma as RCVS and European specialist in Equine Surgery (ECVS), holds a Masters of Veterinary Medicine and a Certificate in Equine Orthopaedic Surgery.

His study on standing fracture repair in the elbow detailed the first cases in the world performed in this manner and was presented at the 2022 ECVS congress and published on Equine Veterinary Education. Most recently, his work on standing accessory carpal bone fragment arthroscopic removal was presented at the 2023 ECVS Conference.

Bryan’s bread and butter is orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery which he can carry out ambulatorily when is deemed to be safe and in the best interest of horses, so that they can receive the highest level of care at home, in the comfort of their environment. Such procedures can include sarcoid or melanoma removal using diode laser.

At ambulatory level, Bryan has a special interest in poor performance investigation and extensive experience in Dynamic Endoscopy (Overground Endoscopy) and upper respiratory tract surgery (WIND OPS), having worked in several practices in the UK and in his native Ireland.

When Bryan is not at work, he is busy coaching his son’s Rugby team and following his daughter’s pony club activities while chasing his dream of becoming Pony Club Dad of the year!

Team Dietrich

Dietrich graduated at the University of Georgia (USA) in 1982 and worked as a vet in the USA before moving to the UK in 1989, when he founded an equine veterinary practice on the Hog’s Back near Guildford, Surrey.

Dietrich has wide experience in all aspects of equine practice, ranging from all aspects of ambulatory care to colic and elective surgery.

Dietrich has a special interest in equine acupuncture, which finds its roots in a very successful treatment of a severe kick injury in 1984. From here, Dietrich enrolled in the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society course, graduating in 1998. He then progressed to be elected President of the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturist (ABVA) and following his mandate, he remained ABVA lecturer and Education director for over a decade.

His studies are published in the book ‘Current Therapy in Equine Medicine’ and on scientific journals such as the ‘Veterinary Clinics of North America: Equine Practice’, and ‘Acupuncture in Medicine’.

When he is not with horses, Dietrich enjoys playing guitar, tennis, and golf, and riding his motorcycle under any weather conditions. He is also a member of the charity ‘Vets with Horsepower’ (www.vetswithhorsepower.com) which raises funds for children and animal welfare.

Leanne Bradley

Equine Nurse

Dip EVN

Team Leanne

Leanne’s veterinary career started in 2013 with a position as clinical assistant in an equine practice in West Sussex, where she first met Corrado and the two worked together for over 5 years.

In 2020 Leanne qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse at the RCVS and took on a role of senior lead nurse in a referral equine hospital in West Sussex. Here she was in charge of running all inpatients’ care from admission, overseeing and performing 24h hospitalisations and treatments in direct liaison with the surgeons and hospital directors, running the images acquisition phase for MRI, Scintigraphy (Bonescan) and CT referrals, running the surgical theatre for both orthopaedic and airways procedures, as well as emergency colic and fracture repair surgeries. Leanne is also clinical coach for RVN student nurses. In these years she gained invaluable veterinary knowledge and matured experience in managing and being responsible for an extensive range of equine medical and orthopaedic conditions.

In 2023 Leanne joined Corrado at Surrey Hills Equine, where she works as a veterinary nurse, bringing her expertise to our clients in the field, and as administrative assistant.

Leanne has a particular interest in equine dentistry and advanced diagnostic imaging. She is in fact currently enrolled in an Equine Dental Technician course, which she carries out simultaneously to her work at Surrey Hills Equine.

Leanne’s passion for horses goes back to her childhood, and prior to her roles in veterinary practice she worked as a travelling dressage groom for high level competition horses which brought her to live in Sweden and Holland. Leanne’s passion for Dressage led her to successfully re-train racehorses to saddle work up to competition level, and also to ride and work with post-trauma rehab cases.

Outside work, Leanne competes in Hyrox fitness and road running competitions. She has two Whippets and a Jack Russell who sometimes are not keen on all this training and require her rather exclusive attentions!
